Finance and strategic planningAbstract: The renovation of the sugar industry of Myanmar requires new forms of production between cultivators and millers to enhance the efficiency and profitability of the market position. Various co-ordination processes are used by processing firms to control the quantity and quality of their raw material. In the sugar industry, there is a gradual fall down in the manufacturing process due to the lack of labor skills and high operation cost in the sugar market. In recent years, large modern sugar factories operated by private and military companies have gradually shut down due to the current shortage of quality cultivation, technological advancement and competition for raw materials which have become driving forces that shift sugar trading from market-oriented to raw material-oriented locations. Internal competition among sugar traders made sugar price highly volatile, too. Being placed on a level playing field, the whole industry should be upgraded in terms of price and quality to become export-oriented.
Besides, there is a great demand for new technologies to replace the current machines in order to produce quality sugar in the both local and export market. Therefore, the government needs to subsidize financially to local own sugar mills in order to operate it more efficiently in market competitive position with neighboring export countries. In addition, the government sector and sugar millers should work hands in handsto expand cane plantation and produce more fields that supply sugar mills through systematic plantation methods.
Thus, the certain amount of sugar production must meet the local consumption in near future, or else the import sugar will play a big role in the sugar economy sector in Myanmar. As a result, the local sugar exporters and companies need to seek better ways and find solution to sustain sugar business through the renovation of sugar market to develop SMEs in Mandalay.Curricular : BBA/MBA Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27844 SIU IS. Micro-Finance InstitutionsAbstract: The study has been done in the rural areas of the Janakpur as case study of the short term migration, livestock as an income generating activities and MFIs as a microloan provider in a socio-economic perspective. The study was done to compare the socio-economic situation with the short term migrant and non-migrant, MFIs borrowers and non-borrowers, perspective of rearing livestock in poor rural area in Janakpur. It is found that most of the family or at least the one or more family members have migrated in search of job out of the village either in nearby town, city and boarder area with India and the income through migrating is the dependable source of their livelihood, paying back the debt they obeyed. There is little or none change has been seen in the migrants’ households as they spent most of their earning on the consumption purposes, payback debt, on medical expenses, building houses. Few of them have invested their saving on income generating activities: the cash crops, livestock and small scale of instant cash businesses. It can be seen that livestock is a common asset amongst households across all expenditure. The majority of households, therefore, have some motives to keep livestock, either as a risk-coping or income-enhancing strategy. Poorer households are more likely to keep small ruminants than richer ones who are more likely to keep large ruminants. Well-off is using livestock as the consumption and income enhancing purposes whereas the poor households see it as an income generating or the exchange mode of money in immediate need. It was seen that the most of the clients housing quality and household has been increased and they are having a good condition home that can save them with seasonal disaster in comparison to non-clients.
