Research Study. [MSMT.[Management Technology]] -- Shinawatra University, 2017.Languages : English (eng) Descriptors: [LCSH]Building information modeling
[LCSH]Structural engineeringKeywords: Structural Engineering, Structural design process, BIM implementation Abstract: With the implementation of building information modeling (BIM) into structural design, existing, conventionally practiced work flows become subject to change. While such transitions are considered an improvement to exiting practices, they may also unveil apparent difficulties of BIM implementation.
Perhaps the greatest innovation in structural engineering industry, building information modeling (BIM) is the most promising recent development in structural engineering design practice in Thailand. Basically, structural engineering design has four stages: pre-processing, structural analysis, post-processing, and structural design. In each stage, there are created several flaws of design steps in engineering design process.
This study investigates current working practices for structural design engineers in order to the implementation of BIM during such processes. Through a qualitative methodology a survey between existing design methods of structural engineering companies was conducted with focuses on aspects of changes such as workflow, time saving, benefits or difficulties of implementation.
Results suggest that, when comparing to the traditional workflow of using non BIM software, benefits of utilizing BIM for the structural design, whether partially or fully implemented, can be found when considering aspects of time saving, information exchange capabilities or error handling. Also intend to encourage the implementation of BIM application and usage for recent innovations in the technology and the future of structural engineering practices.
Since the design processes on each stage are clearly stated by making comparison on BIM, partially BIM, and non BIM process for more specifically to traditional structural design engineers to perform quickly, accurately, and more understand on its limitation, assumption and benefits.Curricular : BSMT/MSMT Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27510 SIU RS. [LCSH]DesignKeywords: Sustainable interior design,
LEED v4 Interior Design and Construction,
Independent level of specialist support,
Financial benefit,
Social benefit,
Environmental benefitAbstract: Developing sustainable design in commercial interior spaces improves both the health performance on occupants and environment, and provides cost savings. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating systems provide sustainable guidelines in design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings for the building owners, designers and engineers, and offer sustainable certification for buildings. The LEED v4 Interior Design and Construction (LEED ID&C) defines indoor sustainable requirements that focus on improving commercial interior design and management. It is considered a guideline for professionals and advanced specialists who have sustainable design and management experience (Mendler, Odell, & Lazarus, 2006). Understanding the LEED rating system and its sustainable requirements will help the designers strengthen the knowledge of sustainability in the related key fields of interiors, gain more benefits, and be able to satisfy the LEED requirements successfully.
This research focuses on the development of a tool to help project stakeholders improve their understanding on using the LEED ID&C guidelines by prioritizing the LEED ID&C criteria according to financial, social, and environmental benefits and their need for specialist support, which allows an informed decision making process to achieve the desired level of LEED certification. The scores obtained in the rating table depend on the background and experiences of the project owners or the interior designers. Utilizing these rating scores as inputs, the ranking table automatically lists the LEED ID&C criteria by their weighted average scores of the rating scale in four different aspects in descending order, and calculates the accumulated LEED credits while evaluating the achieved LEED certifications. This rating and comparing processes of the LEED criteria were based on Analytic Hierarchic Process (AHP) method. The AHP is a popular theory of measurement for measuring and judging intangibles (Saaty, 2008).
This research tool simplifies the process of evaluating LEED criteria, and listed the potential certification points that can be earned based on the LEED certification systems. Consequently, the preferable LEED criteria obtained with the help of this tool can then be applied in the selected interior sustainable design project.
Another objective of this research is to illustrate the effectiveness and usefulness of this tool through utilizing this tool to analyze and evaluate LEED criteria, and to recognize the general sustainable value of the seven major categories in terms of financial, social and environmental benefits, and independent level of specialist support, in order to help the project team concentrate on the improvement of the most recommended criteria with the related key fields. Part of the objective is also to improve the collaboration of team members through putting the preferred criteria into design process with the related core specialists.
With the research based on hypothetical situations, readers can utilize this research to measure their own project. For further research, a real project should be utilized to test and verify the results of this research, and illustrate the usefulness and capabilities of the ranking table.Curricular : BSMT/MSMT Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27205 SIU Thesis. Tourism spaceAbstract: This paper proposes a management model call ‘State as Co-Producer in the realm of tourism space: theoretical framework of TIME-SPACE & SELF’. This approach will contribute to the state’s policy and planning for tourism development. While traditional state’s role acts as a typical regulator or basic state developer e.g., building fundamental infrastructure and promoting the destination brand image, this paper proposes state in a new set of paradigm shift in more practical policy and planning, proactive-state as a co-stage producer. While the destination should not be viewed as blank space and the government-state’s job is to fill up this empty space by merely building basic infrastructures, instead we argue and suggest state’s role as proactive ‘co-stage producer’ to script, to theme, to nationalize, and to standardize the spaces as experiential stage or dramatized theater.
The research methodology is constructed from a set of serial researches of data collections as a larger doctoral research project. As tourism industry involves different and fragmented stakeholders, the researches are conducted with different interest groups from various tourism bodies: government, academic institutions, service providers (small-boutique hotel, spa service, tour operator, restaurant), and also tourists with different research questions for different sample.
In the finding drawn from the empirical cases in Thailand where state’s role has been co-producing the new tourism space through the time - space commodification and performing the frontstage and backstage management under the state’s policies and planning and create the new flow of consumption and production for new spaces. Simultaneously the tourist consumes space and time through their own five sensory touches. In this research the postmodern tourist becomes central study which plays role as new middle income consumer and quest for new tourism space of authenticity and modernity.

Title : Engaging patients with heart failure into the design of health system interventions : Impact on research methods Material Type: printed text Authors: Newhouse, Robin P., Author ; ohantgen, Meg J, Author ; Thomas, Sue A., Author ; Trocky, Nina M., Author ; Dennison-Himmelfarb, Cheryl, Author Publication Date: 2017 Article on page: p.334-341 Languages : English (eng) Original Language : English (eng)
in Geriatric Nursing > Vol.38 No.4 (Jul-Aug) 2017 [10/09/2017] . - p.334-341Keywords: Heart failure, Patient engagement, Rural hospital, Research design. Abstract: The purpose of this study was to engage patients with heart failure (HF) to assess if changes are needed in a research study design, methods and outcomes when transferring interventions used in urban/community hospitals to rural hospital settings. A qualitative structured interview was conducted with eight patients with a diagnosis of HF admitted to two rural hospitals. Patients validated the study design, measures and outcomes, but identified one area that should be added to the study protocol, symptom experience. Results validated that the intervention, methods and outcomes for the planned study were important, but modifications to the study protocol resulted. Patient engagement in the conceptualization of research is essential to guide patient-centered studies.
