Without a well-written requirements specification, developers do not know what to build, users do not know what to expect, and there is no way to validate the target system against the original user needs.
Traditional methods user requirements are often misunderstood because the system analyst may misinterpret the user’s needs. In addition to requirements collecting, standards and constraints play an important role in systems development. Absence of appropriate requirements validation with the user involvement typically results in requirements that are incomplete because they fail to specify important customer needs or they are incorrect because of misunderstandings between the requirements engineers and the customers. That is why project failure is ongoing process over thirty years which comes from missing information.
More recently to lightweight techniques designed to deliver products on time, on budget, and with high quality and customer satisfaction. Agile team tried to solve the problems existing in traditional, 50% of failure they reduced and adaptation is 69% which is better than traditional methods.

However researchers are increasingly focusing on solutions that are lightweight, and simple enough to be adopted in practice. Agile Methods (AM) such as Feature Driven Development, eXtreme Programming and Scrum are notable examples. Their benefits are attractive to software engineers increasingly challenged to deliver software that is both dependable (reliable, secure, available, etc.) and capable of rapid change or reconfiguration in an increasingly volatile business environment.
Until recently, the thought of applying Agile Methods to High Integrity Software Systems was unthinkable. We cannot expect industry to make large big-bang changes to processes, methods and tools, without tangible evidence of their value; and among the HIS engineering community there is little conclusive evidence of successful application of AM in this domain, while research into the possibilities is still in its infancy. One major challenge is that the AM “manifesto” emphasizes among its core values, “working software over comprehensive documentation”. Similarly another value Agile proponents hold dear is “trustworthy transparency over tiresome traceability”. Yet HISE must often be certified by the appropriate regulatory body before entering service. This normally involves submission to the appropriate regulatory authority of a dependability case (a reasoned argument that the system is acceptably secure/reliable/safe to operate), typically including claims and supporting evidence of adherence to appropriate standards. Such standards like DO178b, EN-50128 and IEC 61508 mandate production of certain documentation, and, traceability between these artifacts; all incidentally also recommend use of Formal (mathematical development) Methods, including CSP, LOTOS, Temporal Logic, VDM, Z and B, methods at best seen as orthogonal and at worst opposing to an Agile approach.
This research aims to modify Scrum to incorporate the fundamental (heavyweight) needs of engineering high integrity systems, while retaining the lightweight ‘touch’ of Agile Methods. In particular we devise a method for integrating tools supporting the varied range of development and assessment notations and techniques (including Formal Methods) used by HIS engineers, while enabling generation of cross tool traceability links between artifacts.

While such transitions are considered an improvement to exiting practices, they may also unveil apparent difficulties of BIM implementation.
Perhaps the greatest innovation in structural engineering industry, building information modeling (BIM) is the most promising recent development in structural engineering design practice in Thailand. Basically, structural engineering design has four stages: pre-processing, structural analysis, post-processing, and structural design. In each stage, there are created several flaws of design steps in engineering design process.
This study investigates current working practices for structural design engineers in order to the implementation of BIM during such processes. Through a qualitative methodology a survey between existing design methods of structural engineering companies was conducted with focuses on aspects of changes such as workflow, time saving, benefits or difficulties of implementation.
Results suggest that, when comparing to the traditional workflow of using non BIM software, benefits of utilizing BIM for the structural design, whether partially or fully implemented, can be found when considering aspects of time saving, information exchange capabilities or error handling. Also intend to encourage the implementation of BIM application and usage for recent innovations in the technology and the future of structural engineering practices.

Without a well-written requirements specification, developers do not know what to build, users do not know what to expect, and there is no way to validate the target system against the original user needs.
Our belief is that traditional approaches to establishing user requirements employing popular techniques such as interview, questionnaire, or even ethnography is at odds with the customers’ actual perspective which in turn leads to so called ‘air gaps’ between developers and customers understanding of requirements.
Hence in this research we focus on addressing this customer/developer air gap problem by developing a process-model that transforms user problem statements into acceptable user requirements - with the stakeholders always central to the process - by generating requirements automatically in the form of Use Case and Sequence Diagrams.
To substantiate our argument, we use real world case study from Airline Reservation System and turn the problem statement of the case study into requirement in the form of unified modeling language (use case and sequence diagrams).
