Teaching.Abstract: The purpose of this study is to compare effectiveness of teaching tense using texts and drills. 11 students of the English Program Department of Assumtion College Thonburi were taught by two mentioned teaching methods: texts or drills after that they were tested by pre-test and post test.
The results showed a small difference between classes. The students taught trough texts got higher scores than those who were taught by drills. However, the percentage of development in drills class was 12.8% the percentage of development in texts calss was 1.43%. This is probably because of limited teaching time as understanding texts and clues given in story is a skill acquired in a length of time.
A questuionnaire asking the student's opinions and suggestions about the tests was done with those who particpated in the research. Vocational StudentsAbstract: The purposed of this study were to study the vocational students’ satisfaction towards different games used in teaching English and to investigate the attitudes towards using language games for vocational students in English class. The sample of this study were 31 vocational students majoring in Electrical Power who studied the English conversation in the semester of the academic year 2016 at Thanyaburi Technical College. The findings of this study were summarized as follows:
1) The vocational students’ satisfaction towards using language games in teaching English was at high level in overall (X = 4.31). There were 3 games obtained the satisfaction at very high level. Treasure hunting game received the highest mean score (X = 4.77), followed by instruction balloon game (X = 4.61) and guessing Word game (X = 4.51) respectively. The other games were at a high level. This could be interpreted that vocational students like to study English though these types of games.
2) The average score of vocational students’ attitudes towards the impact of using language games in teaching English was at high level (X = 4.61). It could be concluded that vocational students had the positive attitudes towards using language games in English Class.

Myanmar Migrant WorkersAbstract: English language learning has become important in communication all over the world because English has become the lingua franca. Among the factors influencing EFL/ESL learning, there are real working situational problems and needs, as well as learning perspectives and preferences that are important for different learning achievement. The purpose of the study is twofold: 1) to discover job-related English language problems and needs, 2) to identify learning attitudes and preferences. The population of the study was 240 Myanmar migrant workers from the school. A questionnaire was used to collect data, plus follow-up interviews.
Four major conclusions were resulted from this study. First, the most important problems were cultural diversity and lack of scholarship opportunity for further study. Second, four Basic English skills was moderately needed in the workplaces. Third, all the students were found had positive learning attitude. Finally, their preferred learning techniques were grammar focus, big group study, conversation practice, friend chat and teacher detailed explanation.
These useful findings can support teachers for students’ learning improvement by integrating into cultural awareness, practical job-related needs, constructive learning attitudes and learning approach preferences. Further studies are needed focusing on job-related English proficiency and motivation towards EFL acquisition.

Target language (English, L2)Abstract: In English language learning, there have been some concerns regarding the achievement of the target language among EFL/ESL teachers. One of these concerns is regarding the use of first language/mother tongue in the classroom which has been a topic of discussion in EFL/ESL classrooms. Numerous empirical research studies have been done in different countries on this topic. Almost all findings have showed the same result: judicious use of first language was effective in assisting learners in their understanding of the learning process. This issue, regarding to the use of mother tongue/first language, caused my interest to investigate in the Myanmar setting. The study aimed to find out the effect of using first language on the second/foreign language learning for beginning adults. The study collected data from Myanmar learners of English and in-service Myanmar teachers of English working for private language school, British Council (Myanmar), and Dagon University in Myanmar. The results indicate that using the first language moderately is beneficial and helpful and the teachers need to be mindful in the use of mother tongue to assist students in acquiring the target language. This study offers the strict teachers of English only policy a better understanding of the use of the first language in order to help the learners to acquire the target language, English. People prefer learning online because it is adaptable to their schedules and it is readily assessable. The understanding of e-learning has increased over the past few years and e-learning is now more widely accepted as an alternate educational medium. In the online learning environment, MOOCs, which stands for Massive Open Online Courses, have grown rapidly in the last 3 years in Western countries. MOOCs offer a wide variety of interesting courses. The purpose of the study is to investigate Asian learners’ intentions to enroll in English Language on MOOCs and their perspectives regarding these courses. The study was conducted at Shinawatra University and online with Asian students. The data was analyzed with SPSS (version16.0). The results show that a few Asian learners have investigated MOOCs. Moreover, most students had little knowledge regarding MOOCs. This study encourages teachers and learners to acquire more information about MOOC and to improve their needed skills by enrolling in MOOCs. Moreover, the knowledge about MOOCs is needed to be distributed in Asian countries in the near future. Learning strategies.Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the English language problems and learning strategies. The study employed a survey design which involved administering questionnaries of rating scales to mesure Englsih language problems and language learning strategies from 30 grade 10 bilingual program students of Assumtion College Thonburi [ACT].
The results of this study revealed that the weakest skill is writing and intercultural communication is the best. The problem least mentioned is being ashamed of pronunciation when communicating with foreign or Englsih native speaker teachers.
All particpants reported frequency use of strategy on the strategy Inventory for Language Learning [SILL]. The particpants reported using compensatory most frequently, and metacognitive strategy was the least frequently use.

Macro levelAbstract: This research takes China’s Standards of English Language Ability (the CSE) as a subject of its eco-system and explored its interaction with factors in its umwelt (environment) from perspective of eco-semiotics on three levels, which takes the faucets in the umwelt of the CSE as orderly arranged from micro scope (the CSE itself, the researchers, the teachers, the learners and the translators and interpreters), meso scope (schools, social communities, training agencies, employers and language services) and macro scope (local government, state government and even the world).
By using methods of corpus-based analysis, literature review and semi-structured interview, the CSE 86 scales are analyzed to find what are concerned while CSE is used in evaluating learners’ language ability by observing 11 key nouns used to define language proficiency; literatures are categorized into application and development by years to analyze and semi-structured interviews are done and transcripts are coded and analyzed to support the analysis. The interaction the CSE made to elements at three levels in its environment is analyzed and found that the CSE tried to evaluate learners’ English proficiency from some keywords like ‘information’, ‘topics’, ‘sentences’; the CSE gained well interaction at micro level; the CSE didn’t get enough attention at meso level; and the CSE gained much attention from state government and world but not much attention from local government.
