Teaching.Abstract: The purpose of this study is to compare effectiveness of teaching tense using texts and drills. 11 students of the English Program Department of Assumtion College Thonburi were taught by two mentioned teaching methods: texts or drills after that they were tested by pre-test and post test.
The results showed a small difference between classes. The students taught trough texts got higher scores than those who were taught by drills. However, the percentage of development in drills class was 12.8% the percentage of development in texts calss was 1.43%. This is probably because of limited teaching time as understanding texts and clues given in story is a skill acquired in a length of time.
A questuionnaire asking the student's opinions and suggestions about the tests was done with those who particpated in the research. It suggested that teachers should choose the teaching styles which are appropriate to the individual factors of each class.Curricular : GE/MTEIL Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=22758 SIU IS. Vocational StudentsAbstract: The purposed of this study were to study the vocational students’ satisfaction towards different games used in teaching English and to investigate the attitudes towards using language games for vocational students in English class. The sample of this study were 31 vocational students majoring in Electrical Power who studied the English conversation in the semester of the academic year 2016 at Thanyaburi Technical College. The findings of this study were summarized as follows:
1) The vocational students’ satisfaction towards using language games in teaching English was at high level in overall (X = 4.31). There were 3 games obtained the satisfaction at very high level. Treasure hunting game received the highest mean score (X = 4.77), followed by instruction balloon game (X = 4.61) and guessing Word game (X = 4.51) respectively. The other games were at a high level. This could be interpreted that vocational students like to study English though these types of games.
2) The average score of vocational students’ attitudes towards the impact of using language games in teaching English was at high level (X = 4.61). It could be concluded that vocational students had the positive attitudes towards using language games in English Class.
3) It was also suggested by students using games in the classroom that teachers should play fun games in the class because they could make students fun, feel relaxed and not too serious in the English class as well as could help them learn vocabulary better.Curricular : BALA/GE/MTEIL Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26630 SIU IS. Its increasing acceptance has inspired this evaluation study to be conducted to make clear the realistic condition of the performance of the EP department. Assessments of every stakeholder were respectfully treated independently then were integrated so as to arrive at a sense of balance in representing the overall makeup of the whole EP department. Pre-determined factors were used as subject of analysis.
Being a young organization, disputes arise with its performance. There’s an apparent dilemma with how different mechanisms of communication between and among stakeholders affects its performance as a whole. Stakeholder engagement and involvement instigates tight spot. There is a setback with stakeholders’ commitment in supporting the EP department to arrive at a favorable performance.
This study utilized a mixed method approach and decided to evaluate the performance of an EP department in a Thai secondary public school. The evaluation process shed light on the realistic condition of the performance of the EP department highlighting how it is affected by functional communication, stakeholders’ participation, and stakeholders’ commitment in supporting the EP department.
The study was able to complement the concept of the Strategic Constituency Approach which was later suggested to merge the concept of “Part-Whole Science” in evaluating organizational performance and in examining how contingency factors influence the organization’s performance.

Grapheme-BasedAbstract: Transliterating of proper names is the process of converting a word from source natural language (such as Somali) to a target natural language (such as English) while preserving pronunciation. Proper names and technical words are challenging in bilingual translation systems and also in Cross-Language Information Retrieval (CLIR) applications, due to their absence in the dictionary.
In this Thesis, we study transliteration problem of Somali to English; Somali-English transliteration is an under-studied problem. Our Somali-English transliteration system uses transliteration rules based on the orthographic mapping of the source language characters to the characters of the target language. We also propose Somali transliteration table that maps the Somali characters that don't have corresponding characters in English. Our language specific approach combines the direct mapping, Somali transliteration table along with the dependency rules which enhances and improves the transliteration accuracy.Curricular : BALA/BSCS/GE/MSIT/MTEIL Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26775 SIU Thesis.
