The research objectives of this paper are (1) To investigate and analyze the current situation of traditional piano teaching in universities in Fujian Province and Guangdong Province. (2) To design a piano curriculum based on the UbD theory in order to improve students' piano performance abilities (3) To formulate a strategy for piano teaching based on the UbD theory in order to enhance learners' transfer ability. According to the basic steps of UbD instructional design, the learning outcomes of piano performance teaching need to be determined first, and then instructional activities and evaluation need to be designed based on the learning outcomes. This backward design thinking facilitates teachers to be able to maintain the consistency of the three components in teaching, ensure the achievement of the teaching outcomes, and improve the quality and efficiency of teaching. This paper mainly uses quantitative research to draw the following conclusions: Piano performance courses using UbD model have significantly improved technique, score reading, musical expression, and transfer ability. Learners have a positive attitude towards this model. These results strongly indicate that the UbD-based approach is highly effective for piano instruction. Languages : English (eng)
