The research is using a random sample of bank customers from Kathmandu valley who were asked to fill in a questionnaire that was adjusted to Internet banking requirements. The results were examined by a series of statistical measures and were generalized in order to correspond to the research objective. Abstract: Depression is known to increase diabetes risk and worsen glycemic control in older adults, who already expericnce high rates of diabetes. The independent impact of antidepressants to glucose cintrol is less clear. Data was drawn from the Health and Retirement Study a large nationally-representative longitudinal study of retried individuals. Crude and adjusted linear models startified by diabetes status were used to examine the cross sectional association between antidepressant use categorized by subclass and continuous A hemoglobin A1C. The sanple include 1153 individuals, most over the age of 70. Antide pressants use was not associated with hemoglobin A1C with hemoglibin in any model whether stratified or in the total combined sample.Antidepression as a class were also not associatedd with hemoglobin A1C. The purpose of this study was to explore the beliefs regarding asthma management and Asthma Action Plans (AAPs) of African American caregivers residing in three New Jersey public housing communities in Newark, New Jersey.
Design
A qualitative methods design was accomplished using semi-structured interviews with a purposive sample of nine African American caregivers of children with asthma. Information was coded using N'VIVO™; the textual analysis combined codes into categories, which were then assembled into themes.
Results
Self-determination was found to be a fundamental goal of asthma management; however, three themes emerged as barriers and facilitators to this goal: challenges in the urban environment, preference of familial methods, and access to medical care.
Conclusions
indings from this study regarding minority caregivers' beliefs regarding difficulty navigating the health care system coupled with insurance instability, leading to use of Emergency Departments, are consistent with past research. Although caregivers expressed belief in use of prescribed medications as indicated on AAPs, familial methods, found to provide a sense of control over asthma, were preferred.Link for e-copy: http://www.journals.elsevier.com/journal-of-pediatric-nursing/ Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27432 [article] Beliefs Regarding Asthma Management Relating to Asthma Action Plans (AAPs) of : African American Caregivers Residing in Newark, New Jersey Public Housing Communities [printed text] / Steefel, Lorraine, Author ; Steefel, Lorraine, Author . - 2017 . - p.92-97.

Conclusions
indings from this study regarding minority caregivers' beliefs regarding difficulty navigating the health care system coupled with insurance instability, leading to use of Emergency Departments, are consistent with past research. Although caregivers expressed belief in use of prescribed medications as indicated on AAPs, familial methods, found to provide a sense of control over asthma, were preferred.Link for e-copy: http://www.journals.elsevier.com/journal-of-pediatric-nursing/ Record link: http://libsearch.siu.ac.th/siu/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27432 An intregrative review of physical activity/exercise intervention effects on function / Floegel, heresa in Geriatric Nursing, Vol.37 No.5 (Sep-Oct) 2016 ([01/23/2017])

Title : Why older adults may decline offers of post-acute care services : A qualitative descriptive study Material Type: printed text Authors: Sefcik, Justine S., Author ; Nock, Rebacca H., Author ; Chase, Jo-Ana D., Author Publication Date: 2017 Article on page: p.238-243 Languages : English (eng) Original Language : English (eng)
in Geriatric Nursing > Vol.38 No.3 (May-Jun) 2017 [07/31/2017] . - p.238-243Keywords: Post-acute care service.Older adults.Qualitative research. Abstract: The most common post-acute care (PAC) services available to patients after hospital discharge include home care, skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, inpatient rehabilitation, and hospice. Patients who need PAC and receive services have better outcomes, however almost one-third of those offered services decline. Little research exists on PAC decision-making and why patients may decline services. This qualitative descriptive study explored the responses of thirty older adults to the question: “Can you, from the patient point of view, tell me why someone would not want post hospital care?” Three themes emerged. Participants may decline due to 1) previous negative experiences with PAC, or 2) a preference to be home. Some participants stated, “I'd be there” and would not decline services. Participants also discussed 3) why other patients might decline PAC which included patients' past experiences, lack of understanding/preconceived ideas, and preferences. Clinical implications include assessing patients' knowledge and experience before providing recommendations.
